Highgrove Community Federal Credit Union Introduces Money Management Program at Cretin Derham Hall High School.

Highgrove Community Federal Credit Union (HCFCU) is sponsoring an educational program, entitled “Your Checking Account” to Cretin-Derham Hall High School students. The program is designed to help students in learning the techniques and responsibilities associated with maintaining a personal checking account.

Each student will receive a supply of checks, deposit slips, bank statements and related reference material. After learning how to open account, keep checkbook records and reconcile the monthly statements, students will maintain their own checking account for simulated eight-month period.

Additional banking services such as the use of ATM machines, debit cards, and internet banking are covered. The materials are designed not only to teach an important aspect of money management but also to correct poor check writing habits which may otherwise persist throughout adult life.

HCFCU believes strongly that the credit union has an important responsibility to educate students on making wise financial decisions. Both educators and the financial community emphasize the relationship between sound money management training in school and future personal financial stability.
For over 60 years Highgrove Community Federal Credit Union has been dedicated to improving the financial well being of its members by offering lower rates on loans, higher rates on savings and personal service.
