Wings Financial Credit Union Merger Information
Highgrove Community Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce that it is merging with Wings Financial Credit Union to create one stronger credit union better able to serve the members of both organizations. The merger has been approved by state and federal regulators, and our combined operations will go forward under the Wings Financial name with headquarters located in Apple Valley, MN.
This coming together of two Twin Cities credit unions means better service for members of both institutions, expanded networks of branch offices and ATM locations across the metropolitan area and exciting growth opportunities. We are stronger together than as separate institutions and well-positioned for growth and to meet your financial needs. In short, it is a great transaction, one that is unanimously supported by the member-driven boards of both credit unions.
Wings Financial started in St. Paul in 1938 serving the employees of Northwest Airlines. Over 70 years later, Wings Financial is still an important financial partner to the aviation industry, offering financial services to employees representing 130 air transportation companies, including 54 airlines. It is also the largest credit union in Minnesota and in 2009 expanded its field of membership to include anyone who lives, works or worships in the 13-county Twin Cities metropolitan area. Wings Financial has more than $2.7 billion in assets and 126,000 members worldwide. It operates 18 branch offices around the country, including seven in the Twin Cities.
We expect this transition to a fully integrated credit union will be completed by the end of October and at each step of the way we’ll be there with tools and answers to make the changeover as simple as possible.
